Wellington Subway robbed tonight; suspect at large

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — There was an armed robbery at the Wellington Subway restaurant tonight around 8:42 p.m.

According to Wellington Police Chief Tracy Heath, a white male walked into Subway, ordered a sandwich, before stealing cash from the store register. The male is described as wearing a black hoodie pulled over his head, sunglasses, blue jeans and a pair of dark colored gloves – known as ’skeleton’ gloves with bone graphics on the fingers and hand.

The male walked in and ordered a six-inch sandwich, and when he reached the register, he showed the register clerk that he had a pistol in the waistband of his pants and he wanted all the money out of the cash register.

Heath said the suspect appears to be 6’1″, 30 years of age, and have a two or three day beard growth.

As he exited the store, he turned and walked north on foot, Heath said.
