By Sumner Newscow report — After being delayed earlier this week due to weather, the Wellington and Collegiate varsity baseball teams played a makeup game – playing at Hibbs-Hooten field instead of being in Wichita as originally scheduled.
Collegiate would beat Wellington 5-1 and 9-1. The Crusaders fall to 1-2. That one win against El Dorado was 19 days before. It’s been that kind of season so far.
The Crusaders held a 1-0 lead after three innings when Adam Hilt brought Derek Driskell home. Wellington held that lead until the top of the fifth when the Collegiate scored three runs with a E. John triple to give the Spartans a 3-1 lead. Wellington would never recover. Collegiate scored two insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
