Sumner Newscow report  — This Thursday was Day #2 of the Kansas Wheat Festival in Wellington. The evening saw the Security State Bank Big Bucks team end the three year reign of the Team Hot Sauce from SRMC in the downtown bed races. The Big Bucks won the championship in the las second and receive the toilet seat crown.

At Sellers Park, the State Babe Ruth Tournament started out with a bang, but not for the two Wellington teams. Junction City would beat Walnut Ark Valley 8-2. In the nightcap, Abilene destroyed host Wellington 19-1.

Meanwhile back downtown, after a brief rainstorm traveled through cooling off Festival goers, the country bands Marc Baker Show and the Aaron Woods Band were on hand to get people moving and grooving.
