Kathy McGrath, 54, of Wellington, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at her home.

Kathy Rose McGrath was born October 26, 1962, the daughter of James and Velva (Wescott) McCullough, Sr. in Wichita, KS. She attended Wichita West High School. She worked for Deluxe Check printing. Kathy enjoyed gardening, watching the KC Chiefs, listening to rock and roll and loved her animals.

Wellington Heat eliminated from NBC World Series with 7-5 loss to Mulvane

Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington Heat lost to the Mulvane Pilots 7-5 Thursday evening and were eliminated from the NBC World Series Baseball Tournament.

The Heat needed to win this game to advance to the single elimination Championship quarterfinal bracket. Wellington finished 1-2 in the tournament.

The Heat finished the season at 45-7 and won the Kansas Collegiate Conference Championship.
