by Amber Schmitz, Sumner Newscow — The Wellington Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts were recently the recipients of a $3,600 gift of camping gear through the Cabela’s Outdoor Scouting Grant.

Cub Scoutmaster Floyd Kabureck applied for a grant through Cabela’s for a new grill, and they received additional camping gear. There were seven eight-man tents, 30 sleeping bags, three first aid kits, a 36-inch grill, a 20-inch cast iron skillet, and a 14-inch deep cast iron skillet donated.

“I wanted to apply for the grant, so that when boys sign up for Scouts, and they don’t have camping gear, they don’t feel like they can’t participate, because they can use our stuff,” said Kabureck.

Through millions of Cabela’s customers rounding up their purchases, they helped create the Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, which promotes and protects the future of hunting, fishing, camping and recreational shooting. To date, they have been able to donate $10,000 to many worthy causes.
