Jennifer Ann (Gutknecht) LaFond, 53, of Wellington died Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at her home.

No services are scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions for Jennifer may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, contributions may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Wellington – PO Box 555 Wellington, KS 67152.

Jennifer was born on October 18, 1966, in Arlington Heights, IL the daughter of John Gutknecht and Marilyn (Ayer) Lovett. She attended the Manitowoc, WI Lutheran High School and later earned her GED. Jennifer was a homemaker and loved caring for her family, she also enjoyed makeup and took cosmetology courses from Estee Lauder. Some of her favorite hobbies were horseback riding, crocheting blankets, creative writing and gardening; Jennifer was very devoted to the Lord, she enjoyed going to Bible studies, reading devotions and spending time in prayer.

Welcome to my fifth annual “Cueball Fourth of July” column –  where I celebrate 244 years of history,  by making a useless Internet list of all things American.

This year, in honor of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m going to list my top five favorite American conspiracies.

COVID-19 is a deadly virus that has spread quickly across the world. But COVID-19 hasn’t spread nearly as quickly as the conspiracy theories.

Why are we obsessed with conspiracies? I think it is because we love to gossip. It’s a great American pastime.

So let’s get started.
