by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Wellington City Council called a special emergency meeting to basically not pass anything Sunday afternoon at the council chambers.

Councilmember Joe Soria made a motion to mandate masks as a requirement within the city limit. The motion failed with a lack of a second.

Mayor Jim Valentine proclaimed after the motion failed, “God help us all.” Valentine could not vote because under city bylaws he only can cast a vote if the council is tied 3-3.
