To the Editor:
How it affects you: Kennel Zoning Regulation Deletion
The majority of Sumner County resides in the unincorporated areas and most are not aware or concerned, until one starts operating next door to them. All should be concerned should the county commissioners completely delete these regulations. The regulations state how many dogs are allowed, acreage requirements, housing and welfare of the animals, setbacks of animal pens from your property, your safety and welfare.
To the editor:
For some time I have listened to and to some extent participated in conversations over coffee about the generally believed indifference of some local governmental bodies to concerned citizens’ questions about the way those governmental bodies were doing their job.
All governmental bodies having the power to tax us or funded in whole or part by the taxes we pay are governed by The Open Meetings Act.
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — That elephant that sat in room at Thursday night’s Wellington school board meeting had a mighty fine presence. It munched its hay. It crunched its feed. It bellowed quite loudly as most elephants do.
But the Wellington school board was adamant. It was not to be recognized.
Letter to the Editor,
After reading all of the comments in regards to the issues in the high school I think it’s pretty safe to say that the general consensus seems to be that we have lost trust and faith in our school board. Ideas/suggestions for changes that could be made to better serve our children follows:
To the editor:
The latest information posted about our high school has caused quite a stir. I had made several comments previously, in another article, concerning the letters parents received from Mr. Carrell and Mr. Townsend, of which I was one of those recipients. From this letter I composed a three-page email with numerous questions that I sent to Mrs. Jackie Berryman, the Wellington Board of Education President. After six days I got no response, I, then forwarded the e-mail to all of the BOE members. Well within two days I started getting responses. To sum it up I had one BOE member respond by e-mail (Angie Ratcliff), one call me on the phone (Maria Cornejo) of which we had a half hour conversation and one visit my house (Bob White) for another half hour.
Commentary by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — To put things in perspective, the other day I bought two hot dogs at a concession stand.
It cost me $2 plus tax. How much tax did I pay on those two hot dogs? 16 cents. I shelled out three dollar bills and got 84 cents in loose change which promptly went into my pocket.
