Darlene Joyce Rogers, 85, Wellington: Feb. 13, 1932 – July 9, 2017

Darlene Joyce Rogers of Wellington, formerly of Arkansas City, died on July 9, 2017 at Sumner County Regional Hospital.

Darlene was born February 13, 1932 in Arkansas City to Russell Sherman Rogers and Nada Gertrude (Farmer) Rodgers.  She attended Arkansas City schools.  As a teenager, she moved with her parents to Los Angeles, Calif. where she finished high school. She was united in marriage with Richard Brandenburg on December 19, 1949 in Burley, Idaho.  The couple later divorced.

In young adulthood, Darlene worked in Los Angeles as a BPX operator and for a stock exchange recording and changing stock prices with chalk on a large blackboard.  After divorcing she returned to Arkansas City and lived in her family’s home. From 2009 until her death, she lived at Wellington Health and Rehabilitation Center.   

Darlene is survived by her guardian, Ruth Gordon and Wellington H & R staff and friends.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Wellington Health and Rehabilitation Center, 1600 W. 8th Wellington, KS.
