Sumner County Health Department issues health advisory

Sumner Newscow report — The following is a health advisory issued through the Sumner County Health Department on Friday, July 10:

Worrying trends noticed in the recent spike of COVID-19 cases are interconnected to the lack of social distancing.

All residents of Sumner County are now strongly advised to take the following steps to minimize the risk of exposure for themselves and others.

• Stay at home if ill.

• Stay home as much as possible.

• Wear masks or other face coverings when in public.

• Follow the guidelines and exemptions noted in the Governor’s Executive Order NO. 20-52 on requiring mask or other face-covering in public.

• Distance yourself from others when in public, especially if you are a senior or have a medical condition that puts
you in a high-risk category.

• Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use
hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

• Cover coughs and sneezes with an elbow or tissue. Throw the used tissue away and immediately wash your hands.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily — including phones, keyboards, doorknobs, handles and
light switches.
