Quote from co-head coach James Ginter:

“Another very successful day for the Lady Crusader golf team at the Andover Invitational at Crestview Country Club. The ladies continue to improve and have now medaled as a team in two straight tournaments. They play again today at Sierra Hills Golf Course at the Andover Central Invitational.”

Kami Reichenberger goes undefeated and doesn’t give up a game in No. 2 singles.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TENNIS

Wellington tied Sterling for the team title at the Wellington Invitational at Sellers Park. Both teams had 32 points on Monday to win their second straight varsity tournament.

Individual scores:

No. 1 singles: Ashlyn Gerten defeated Winfield 7-0, Chaparral 7-0, Sterling 7-0, and lost to Sterling 7-3.

No. 2 singles: Kami Reichenberger defeated Winfield 7-0, Chaparral 7-0, Sterling 7-0, Kingman 7-0.

No. 1 doubles: Rylee Rusk/Calli Hatfield defeated Winfield 7-1, Chaparral 7-1, Kingman 7-0, and lost to Sterling in a tiebreaker.

No. 2 doubles: Olivia Brand/Crystal Ramirez defeated Winfield, Chaparral, and Kingman (played by teammates Airlynn Frame and Jordyn Brown, who filled in because Kingman didn’t have a No. 2 doubles team). They lost to Sterling.

Quotes from Wellington head coach Brian Aufdengarten:

“Reichenberger didn’t give up one game which is unheard of even by some of the best players in the state. Kami is settling down and playing well where she is 11-1 in the last three tournaments… Gerten is starting to figure things out. She had a really good deuce game against the Sterling girl…

I loved the comeback for Rusk/Hatfield in the doubles match with Sterling. We lost the tiebreaker after being down 5-2… In the game with their teammates’ Frame/Brown, Brand/Ramirez won a close 7-5 match. Both teams battled hard.”
