Wellington High School Featured Valedictorian: Brecken Lawrence

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — With Wellington High School graduation ceremony set for Saturday at 2 p.m., Sumner Newscow is featuring the six students who were named Valedictorian of the Class of 2017. We are featuring a senior every 12 hours leading up to graduation.

Our second featured Valedictorian is Brecken Lawrence.

Parents/guardians: Kevin and Lynne Lawrence. 

List of high school accomplishments.  Presidential Honor Roll, Rotary Scholar, National Honor Society, KU Honor’s Scholar.

Future aspirations (college, career plans): Go to Kansas State, major in Pre-Med, minor in Spanish and eventually go to med school and become a Pediatrician. 

Favorite past time: Cooking and running. 

Favorite television show: Private Practice.

Favorite movie: Hacksaw Ridge.

Favorite book: Along for the Ride.  

Favorite teacher: Debbie Bassford.  

Person you most admire. Why? Lacie Gregory – She is a great doctor, mother and friend. I strive to be like her someday. 

Most memorable school moment: Working on the class floats and being in the parade. 

Your favorite quote or words to live by: Challenges are what make life interesting, and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.
