Wellington High School Featured Valedictorian: Carson LeGrand

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — With Wellington High School graduation ceremony set for Saturday at 2 p.m., Sumner Newscow is featuring the six students, who were named Valedictorian of the Class of 2017. We will be featuring a senior every 12 hours leading up to graduation. Next year, we hope to expand the coverage to include the Valedictorians of other schools.

Our first featured Valedictorian is Carson LeGrand.

Parents/guardians: Shelley Hansel and Bryce LeGrand. 

List of high school accomplishments.  National Honor Society, Rotary Scholar, Junior Lions Club Award, KU Honors Scholar.  

Future aspirations (college, career plans): Attend Hutchinson Community College for Sports Management. 

Favorite past time: Skateboarding.

Favorite television show: Magnum P.I. 

Favorite movie: Good Will Hunting. 

Favorite book: The Old Man and the Sea.  

Favorite teacher: Mike Wilmoth.  

Person you most admire. Why? Justin Bieber. He gets paid to do what he loves. 

Most memorable school moment. Getting a concussion from a picture frame. 

Your favorite quote or words to live by: Don’t do something until you get it right. Do something until you can’t get it wrong.
