Wellington High School Featured Valedictorian: Will Long

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — With Wellington High School graduation ceremony set for Saturday at 2 p.m., Sumner Newscow is featuring the six students who were named Valedictorian of the Class of 2017. We are featuring a senior every 12 hours leading up to graduation.

Our fourth featured Valedictorian is Will Long.

Parents/guardians: J.C. and Mary Long. 

List of high school accomplishments.  National Honor Society, Presidential Honor Roll, Governor’s Scholar, Rotary School, Junior Lions Club Award, KU’s Honor Society. 

Future aspirations (college, career plans): Go to Kansas University and study finance, maybe law school. 

Favorite past time: Watching basketball. 

Favorite television show: Friends.

Favorite movie: Superbad. 

Favorite book: Book of Basketball. 

Favorite teacher: Robert Escandon. 

Person you most admire. Why? My dad – because he’s driven and focused. 

Most memorable school moment. When Carson had a picture fall on his head. 

Your favorite quote or words to live by: It’s supposed to be hard. If it were easy, everyone would do it.
