Sumner County District Court docket: June 10, 2020 report

These are formal charges introduced into the Sumner County District Court system. The suspects listed in the complaint have not been tried by a judge or jury unless specified otherwise. All citizens are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sumner County Health Department confirms ninth COVID-19 case

Sumner Newscow report — Sumner County Health Department has confirmed its ninth COVID-19 case as of June 8, 2020. The patient is a female in her 40s. The disease investigation is ongoing at this time.

Currently in Sumner County of the nine confirmed positive cases: seven has recovered, one has died and one is active.

KBI called in to assist with Ninnescah body investigation, case deemed a homicide

Body retrieved from Ninnescah River on Sunday has not been identified.

Sumner Newscow report — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been called in to assist the Sumner County Sheriff’s office with the investigation of a body found at the Ninnescah River. It has been deemed a homicide according to authorities.

A body was found in the Ninnescah, about 12 miles north of Wellington, Sunday afternoon around 1:30 p.m by a couple of bystanders who were either fishing or floating down the river. The body was sent to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Center in Wichita. Sumner County Sheriff spokesperson Mike Westmoreland said the sheriff’s office is currently awaiting an autopsy.

No information about the age, sex or the nature of the crime has been publicly released.
