City of Wellington responds to concern over utility bill charges for August

Sumner Newscow report — The following is a statement from the City of Wellington office concerning the recent city utility bills:

———

The City of Wellington has received a number of calls regarding the most recent or August utility bills being higher than expected.  This is due to the July billing period usage having to be estimated for 1 of the 2 billing zones in the city.  This was due to a significant staff shortage, which was previously reported, due to COVID-19 and quarantine requirements impacting the City’s Administration Center including the Utility Billing and City Clerk’s offices.

Wellington Police Chief: People cannot block the sidewalks on 9th Street

Editor’s note: A previous headline was not correct. People can congregate outside the stadium. They just can’t block the 9th Street sidewalk.

Sumner Newscow report — The following is a press statement by Wellington Police Chief Tracy Heath:

———

“With the upcoming Wellington High School Football game, slated for Friday, September 4, 2020, and the limited FAN participation, Wellington PD is anticipating a ‘fairly large’ number of fans along the 9th Street and Cherry Street area outside of the football stadium……

Due to ADA compliance, WPD will not allow the sidewalk along the 9th Street side to be blocked….WPD will also not allow any type of “structure” to be constructed along the 9th Street area and/or along the grass area of Cherry Street.  Good Luck, Crusaders. “

Several ways to keep up with Crusader football game tonight…

Sumner Newscow report — It’s Friday Night Football. Unless you are some of the lucky few and got a ticket, you won’t be able to see the Clearwater at Wellington game in person. But there are plenty of ways to follow the action.

•The game will be live-streamed on the NFHS website. Just click here. This live-stream is available only for home games. People will need to find the host school sites online in the coming weeks when the Crusaders are on the road.

• For the second year ICT Radio will be calling the game with the help of a couple of Wellington Middle School students. It will be broadcasted on its station and the new Crusader Radio Station. You can click here and here. You can also download an app for your smartphone by linking on to ICT Radio site.
