Daniel Farley

Sumner Newscow report — Wellington High School graduate Daniel Farley has just been hired to be the South Haven School Superintendent. He will begin his tenure on July 1, 2023.

The USD 509 South Haven School Board of Education made the hire this week. Farley is currently serving as the Director of Special Programs at USD 353 Wellington school district.

Mr. Farley has broad educational experience as a teacher and administrator.

He also served as Assistant Director of Sumner County Educational Services/Principal of Sumner County Academy for two years and was also the Assistant Principal at Clay Center Community High School for two years.

In a press release sent out via social media, it states:

“South Haven schools succeed because they are quality students focused on preparing for their future. We feel our staff and administration support student learning and educational opportunities that will ensure they are prepared for career or college.”

Board President Steve Nicholson said Farley has emerged from a very thorough search process as the right candidate to lead the School District.

“The Board is certain in our choice of Daniel Farley and confident that under his leadership, USD 509 South Haven School will continue to be recognized as a leading school,” Nicholson said.

Nicholson said community input, including the involvement of stakeholders, was a key factor in the success of the superintendent search process. The committees included teachers and administrators, parents, and community members.

“The input from every group as a whole was very helpful to our process,” Nicholson said.

The Board selected three finalists, who were interviewed by the board.
