Harley Rex Freeman, of Wellington, died with his family by his side, Monday, January 3, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi – St. Joe in Wichita at the age of 84.

Harley was born the son of Herbert G. and Ruth E. (Payne) Freeman on November 4, 1937, in Minneapolis.

On November 6, 1960, Harley and Lucille Bergstrom were united in marriage in Clyde. Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lucille Freeman of Wellington; son, Herbert (Bert) Freeman of Wellington; daughter, Dixie Pennington of Wellington; son, James (J.R.) Freeman of Wellington; brother, Arthur Freeman (Marge) of Abilene; brother, Jon Paul (Pat) of Tallahassee, Florida; sister, Marvel Ann Province of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren: Justin Roberts of United States Air Force; Christopher Doty (Erica) of Purdy, Missouri; Corey Doty (Amanda) of Mannford, Oklahoma; Crystal Mears (Mark) of Mesa, Arizona; KayCee Pennington of Wellington; 7 great-grandchildren: Molly, Harley, Uriyah, Lucy, Jocelyn, Bentley and Baby Doty on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rita Freeman; brothers: Lloyd, Neal, Ted, Calvin, Ronald, Ed and Wendell; sisters: Alena Rasmussen, LaDonna Parkins and Colena Austin and great-granddaughter, Cadance Doty.

Graveside services for Harley will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington.
