by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Wellington Crusaders of the Stage is presenting Ken Ludwig’s Midsummer/Jersey on March 14, 15 and 16 at the Wellington High School auditorium.

“After having seen Midsummer Night’s Dream this summer, an idea sparkled in the back of my mind,” said director Dorthea Kelly. “But could my students handle Shakespeare? When I spoke to the students they were all for it.”

But this Shakespeare has a wrinkle – it has a Jersey Shore aspect. So this is a Shakespeare play with an updated appeal for wide audiences.

On Friday, a cast of 27 WHS students will be participating in a five-act play. Friday and Saturday’s play begins at 7 p.m. and the Sunday at 2 p.m. The price of tickets for seniors and students are $4 in advance and $6 at the door and for adults: $5 in advance and $8 at the door.

The play is a barrel of laughs as fairies and mortals mix it up in a love circle of conflict.
