Colin Reichenberger breaks 300-meter hurdles school record at K.T. Woodman
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Colin Reichenberger, a junior, broke the Wellington High School 300-meter hurdles at the K.T. Woodman at Wichita State University’s Cessna Stadium Friday.
Reichenberger ran the 300 with a 40.49 time. The previous record was set by Jim Wetta, who ran it in 40.5 in 1984. What was unique about this record is Reichenberger had not run this race before this year.
The K.T. Woodman is a Shocker Pre-State Challenge, and it is used by many participants to get a feel of the state track meet ahead in late May. Class 1 to 3A track athletes are grouped together and Class 4 to 6A are grouped together. The track meet is also unique because in certain events the top eight participates compete in the “ELITE†while others compete in the open.
Reichenberger also placed second in the ELITE 110 meter hurdles.
Jaycee Schettler, a freshman, was first in the ELITE 100-meter dash.
Leah Nelson finished second in the Class 4A-6A, 400 meters.
Jaedyn Ledesma finished first in 4A-6A in the 800 meters.
Holly Wright placed third in the ELITE high jump.
The girls 4×400 meter relay team finished third in the ELITE. The 4×400 team is made up of Dietra Sober, Nelson, Ledesma and Wright.
