Sumner Newscow report — The Sumner County Commissioners added a local touch to America’s 250-year celebration.  With the aid of local craftsmen and the assistance of several county departments, a special aluminum frame was constructed to honor and display the flag that flew in front of the courthouse 50 years ago during the country’s Bicentennial celebration.  The frame was designed to blend with the Art Deco aluminum sculpture that is featured on the west façade of the Courthouse.

In the picture above, from left to right are County Commissioners Steve Warner, Jim Newell and John Cooney.  Shown following the installation of the mounted flag are Jimmy Thornton and Joe Struble, supervisors of the courthouse maintenance department.
