DuPont Pioneer gives $5,000 to Sumner County Fire Chiefs Association to purchase grain engulfment rescue equipment
Submitted to Sumner Newscow — The Sumner County Fire Chiefs Association (SCFCA) is pleased to recognize a $5,000 gift from DuPont Pioneer.
The grant will be used to purchase grain engulfment rescue equipment to be used throughout the county. The equipment will help rescuers respond to calls where victims have been trapped in grain. The cofferdam device is placed around the victim, allowing rescuers to isolate the victim, and remove the grain immediately surrounding them. Once the grain has been removed, the victim is able to be safely evacuated from the grain storage facility.
“The Sumner County Fire Chiefs Association appreciates the generous donation by Pioneer to purchase grain engulfment rescue equipment that can save lives and provide a safer work environment for rescuers,†said Tim Hay, SCFCA president.
“Safety is one of the DuPont Core Values,†said Gary Hill, account manager for Pioneer. “We are glad to be able to place this life saving equipment in Sumner County. We never want to see this kind of equipment need to be used, but it is reassuring to know it is available if needed.â€
