Scoring: Oxford – Derek Williams 22, Colter Silhan 8, Timmie Catlin 4, Oggie Shimkus 6.  CVD — Boatman 7, Berkley 13, Duncan 10, Massey 15

3 point field goal: Oxford 1 (Silhan), CVD 0. FT: Oxford 1-3, CVD 17-28.

Oxford head coach Kyle Green’s comments: Well, we labored offensively. We mixed up our defenses in hopes that we would get more possessions which it did, but we just labor to shoot the ball. We were 1-14 from 3 point land, and 18-48 from 2. This bunch plays their butts off, they always have and they will defend. They struggle to put the ball in the hole at times. CVD played a great game, they made FT’s down the stretch to ice it. They continue to get better and just work. We will get back in the gym and work tomorrow. Get better everyday. We are 6-6, 3-0 in the SCBL as this was a non-league game. We head to Burden on Friday.

Haven Tournament:

Wellington will open the 42nd Annual Wildcat Classic Girls Basketball tournament Thursday. Game time is 3 p.m.

The 4-5 Crusaders will be battling 7-3 Kingman in the first round. The two teams avoided one another in the Kingman Tournament for which the Eagles won.

Kingman was 7-1 but lost its last two games to Hesston and Pratt.

Wellington comes into the game on a two game winning streak having beat Clearwater and El Dorado. Wellington was off all last week and hasn’t played a competitive game in 20 days.

The tournament bracket is here.
