Conway Springs, A&A and South Haven are victorious, the others not so much

Sumner Newscow roundup — Here are roundups of the other Sumner County football games…

Conway Springs 68 Remington 20 — This game to the surprise of nobody was all Conway Springs, as the Cards romped to their sixth consecutive victory with an easy victory over winless Remington.

Conway Springs opened with a 24-8 first quarter lead and was ahead 61-20 at the half. The Cardinals will be traveling to Chaparral next Friday night in what should be a battle for the district championship. See stats here.

Fredonia 28 Belle Plaine 23 — Fredonia broke Belle Plaine’s three-game winning streak, despite the Dragons winning the statistical battle by 100 yards. Fredonia had 283 yards of total offense while Belle Plaine had 383. Three interceptions were key to the Yellow Jackets win including one returned for a touchdown.

Belle Plaine held a 7-0 lead on a Luke Baker touchdown, before Fredonia got a 13-yard interception return. The Yellow Jackets then took the lead on a 42-yard touchdown run.

Bo Gooch threw a 41 yard touchdown pass to Dresden Ray in the second quarter to make it 14-13 and the Dragons led at the half 16-14 after a Tristan Warren field goal.

Fredonia would score two touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 28-16 advantage. A Gooch-to-Warren 33 yard touchdown in the fourth was not enough for the win. See the full stats here.

South Central 36 Caldwell 14 — South Central ended Caldwell’s five game winning streak with a shut out in the second half.

After spotting a 49-yard touchdown pass, Caldwell scored two touchdowns on a Corbin Rice 1-yard run and a 14-yard pass from Rice to Christian Ward. South Central would score on a 25-yard pass at the end of the half to tie the game at 14.

South Central took the lead for good on a 54-yard punt return for a touchdown. In the fourth, South Central secured victory with a 47 yard pass and 2 yard run.  See full stats here.

Argonia-Attica 70 Oxford 20 — The Titans grabbed a 28-0 lead and never looked back. The box score is as follows:
