Buhler won the tournament with 24 points. Goddard Eisenhower had 18, and Wellington followed with 15. Conway Springs had 3.
The Crusaders’ doubles teams both finished second. Lyric Cornejo and Jensen Lynnes placed second in No. 1 doubles. Heidi Gulick and Kyra Cornejo were runner-ups in No. 2 doubles.
In No. 1 singles, Kami Reichenberger placed third while Jordyn Brown placed third.
Wellington head girls tennis coach Brian Auftengarten states:
“Lynnes and Cornejo lost their final match to a very tough Buhler team in a tiebreak after winning their first two matches. Cornejo and Gulick also went 2-1 on the day, losing their very first match 8-6 to Goddard Eisenhower.
Probably playing in the toughest spot was Reichenberger playing in the number one singles position against three other state players from last season. Kami went 1-2 with her beating Osner from Conway Springs. Brown went 1-2, beating the Conway Springs player. Brown had a really close match losing 8-6 to the eventual champion from Goddard Eisenhower.
