Scenes from the Veteran’s Day program at Wellington High School

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Today is Veteran’s Day and the student body and public at large came together for the annual program at the Wellington High School auditorium this morning. Casimiro Campa (below) was the featured speaker this year.

Circle of Friends performs the annual God Bless the U.S.A. sign language version of the Lee Greenwood song.

Wellington fifth-graders sing “Sacrifices Made.”

Veterans of each branch of service stood to be recognized.

Several multi-generational families were in attendance for the hour-long event.

Veterans stand in salute as the Star-Spangled Banner was played, not once but twice today.

The Veteran’s Day program is popular with those recording history through their cell phones.

The crowd provided plenty of standing ovations.

Band Director Allen Hisken introduced each branch of the military as the WHS band plays on.
