All city playgrounds will be closed starting Friday, March 27

Sumner Newscow report — The following is a press release by the City of Wellington dated Thursday, March 26.

———

Due to the current & continuing National health emergency relating to concerns of Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), all City of Wellington Park Playgrounds will be CLOSED effective March 27, 2020 and until further notice.

This includes all playground structures, swings, slides and other similar equipment at Candy Cane City, Melody Bowl, Woods Park, Hargis Watershed, Madison, McKinley, Worden Park, Jefferson Park, Wellington Lake, and the skate park and steam engine train in Sellers Park. All public restrooms and water fountains will also be closed.

With the exception of Candy Cane City, the open areas of these parks will still be available for outdoor recreation for the time being, including walking trails, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball pits, and ball diamonds. Please continue to practice social distancing while using these facilities.

Shelter houses and picnic tables within the parks should only be used if you are able to wipe down surfaces prior to use. Park staff simply are not available to sanitize these items after each use. As additional prevention and courtesy, please wipe down these areas when you leave also.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  Please stay safe & healthy.
