Skate park at Sellers Park will re-open soon
Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington Sellers Park skate park is expected to re-open once a part comes in that is needed for repair according to a City Manager newsletter. The Wellington City Park Department staff will begin cleaning the graffiti off the ramps and conducting a full inspection of each piece of equipment next week in preparation for the re-opening of the park.
According to the news letter, there has been a request and several over the years for lighting at the skate park. The city response is as follows:
We have intentionally not added lights to this area to prevent skating activities late at night. Although lighting may act as a security measure, this makes it easier for skaters to stay at the park late into the night. These ramps are fairly loud when used and would be a disturbance to their neighbors after dark. The hours are posted on the sign as dawn to dusk.
