Roy Eckert becomes city manager at Pratt
Sumner Newscow report — The City of Pratt has hired Roy Eckert, the former Wellington City Manager, as its new city manager. Eckert and his wife Jan are in the process of moving to Pratt and he will start work Oct. 3, according to the Pratt Tribune.
Eckert has more than 25 years of experience as a city and county manager, at Osage Beach and Lake Ozark, in Missouri, Orange Beach and Ketchikan, Alaska, Powder Springs, Georgia, and Wellington, Kansas.
He also worked for the University of Tennessee as a consultant and urban policy advisor and for an engineering firm in Atlanta, Georgia.
The city contracted with the Kansas League of Municipalities to work as a hiring agency, Mayor Lucus Kumberg said at a meeting of the Pratt City Commission on Tuesday evening.
Of more than 30 applicants, commissioners interviewed seven via Skype and invited four to Pratt for personal interviews.
Eckert served in Wellington from Nov. 2014 to May, 2016.
