4-H Foundation and Council to host ‘Let’s Take a Chance’ on Nov. 5.

by Amber Schmitz, Sumner Newscow — A game show, “Let’s Take A Chance,” will be hosted by the 4-H Foundation and Council as a fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 5.

“It’s a game show mix between Let’s Make A Deal and the Price is Right,” Elizabeth Gatz, Sumner County Family & Consumer Science Agent. “We took games from both shows and are mixing them up.”

The event, a joint fundraiser for the 4-H Council and 4-H Foundation, will be held Sat., Nov. 5, at 7 p.m., at the Raymond Frye Complex. There are only 250 tickets available at $10 each. A small concessions stand will also be available.

“We are going to have prizes in audience also, such as does anyone in the audience have a red crayon?”

There are many prizes available up for grabs, including a silent auction to bid on items. Some of the prizes that were donated include: a park bench, a cedar back yard lawn chair set, a collection of designer bags, such as Coach and Vera Bradley, jewelry, a barn quilt, a spa set, a sewing machine with supplies to make a quilt, among other prizes, all valued at $50 or more.

“This is the first year for the event,” Gatz said. “I hope it takes off and we make a good amount of money for 4-H.”

Although sworn to secrecy, there will be local celebrities emceeing the event.

“I think it’s going to be a success,” Gatz said. “We’re getting so excited for the event. We’ve been working on it since May. I think it’s going to be a fun time.”

Tickets can be purchased at the Extension Office, or from a junior 4-H leader. All tickets are numbered and drawings will be held to win prizes. Participants must be at least 16 years of age.

“Everyone has a chance to win, either by being pulled onto the stage, or having their name pulled out of a basket,” Gatz said. “It’s going to be fun. I hope the community will come out for a fun time and to support 4-H.”
