Wellington’s Raymond Frye selected as part of Citizen’s Exit Poll experiment
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — People may have noticed as they were voting at the Raymond Frye Complex there is a Citizen’s Exit Poll booth outside the front door.
The exit poll is sponsored by Wichita State University Statistician Beth Clarkson. She is using Wellington’s Raymond Frye Complex as one of four places for exit polls to test out the accuracy of the election. Wellington, along with two Wichita voting places, and one in Winfield have been asking voters to fill out their own paper ballots after voting inside and see if the results are comparable to the official election results that will be tallied later this evening.
“We will be comparing our sample size vote to the official results,†said volunteer Mike Hoheisel, who was one of two people manning the exit poll booth in Wellington. “With so many people worrying about the election being rigged, we felt this was a very important experiment.â€
Of course, not all people coming out of the Raymond Frye Complex stopped to vote in the exit poll. But he said he is confident the sample size of the exit poll will accurately reflect the vote of the people.

Clarkson is not a proponent of the electronic voting machine.
She told the student newspaper “The Sunflower†recently:
“The evidence I have has been very troubling to me. It indicates that electronic voting machines and electronic counting are all very suspect.â€
Clarkson, who fought in court for the right to investigate irregular voting patterns, said the statistical evidence fits with the hypothesis of voter fraud, according to her analysis.
“That doesn’t mean fraud has occurred, but it basically says, ‘Yeah, we need to look at this closer and check,’†Clarkson said to the Sunflower.
