Mildred Hainsworth, 90, Wellington: Jan. 3, 1927 – Jan. 3, 2017
Mildred Pauline Hainsworth, of Wellington, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington on her 90th birthday.
Mildred was born the daughter of John H. and Della (Pitman) McCort on Monday, January 3, 1927 in Wellington.
Mildred and Harold Hainsworth were married on June 21, 1945 on the last day of Harold’s Army leave. Harold left that same afternoon to return to his post in Hawaii, during WWII. For their 50th anniversary Harold took Mildred on their honeymoon to Hawaii.Â
Following Harold’s work they raised their family primarily in Kansas with moves to Michigan and Alabama before finally returning to Kansas to farm. To help to support the family farm Mildred worked a variety of jobs. But, the lifework she was most proud of was that of wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her most prized possession. She loved to sew and cook even winning a ribbon at the state fair for her beloved jelly. Mildred was also an active farm wife, driving wheat trucks to the Co-Op and cooking wonderful meals.Â
As a Christian and active member of the First Christian Church she was involved with Sunday School, CWF, Blessing House and Quilting.
Survivors include her son, Ron Hainsworth (Mary Ann) of Wellington; daugther, Meri Hainsworth of Wellington; daughter, Jane Norris (John) of Wellington, Kansas, grandchildren: Joanne Luehrs (Michael) of Cheney, Liz Higgins (Steve) of Sedona, AZ, Tracy Tatum (George) of Wellington, Kristy Soule (Tim) of Belle Plaine, Steve Caudillo (DeeDee) of Wichita, Tessa Stewart (Jeremy) of Wellington, Chris Norris of Wichita and Ben Norris (Dawn) of Wellington, 2 sisters-in-law, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous other family and friends. Â
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; Â son, Paul Hainsworth; daughter, Susan Rieckenberg as well as all 10 of her siblings and other family.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017 with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services for Mildred will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at First Christian Church, Wellington.
Interment will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in her loving memory to the First Christian Church or Sumner Regional Medical Center Residential Care. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
