A squirrel and small fire cause of Wellington city electrical outage Sunday
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — A squirrel was blamed for an electrical outage in Wellington Sunday afternoon.
Residence were without power for one hour and three minutes, said Wellington City Manager Gus Collins.
The little critter lost his life in an electrical wire connection and that caused the system to shut down. His presence then created a small fire in the basement of the Wellington Electric Department. That delayed the repair process.Â
Collins said the usual time to recover from fried squirrels in a transformer is 10 to 15 minutes. But because of the fire, workers were delayed about 50 minutes.
