Airalyn Frame makes KBCA 1st team 4A all-state, Ali Zeka 2nd team, Britt Zeka 3rd team; Pond named in 1A

Sumner Newscow report — The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association released its all-state lists for the 2021-22 season and three Wellington girls have made been mentioned.

Airalyn Frame, a 5-8 Wellington senior, was named to the first team in 4A – one of five girls to do so.

Ali Zeka, a 5-11 senior, was named to the second team. Her younger sister, Britt Zeka, a 5-11, freshman, was named honorable mention.

Macey Pond

The KBCA released its Class 6A to Class 1A list Saturday afternoon. Macey Pond, a 5-8, senior from South Haven, was named to the Class 1A Div. 2 honorable mention list. There were no Sumner County boys named to the all-state list.

Wellington finished the year 23-2 and fourth place in the Class 4A State Tournament in Salina. It spent five weeks at No. 1 in the Class 4A KBCA poll during the regular season.

Frame finished the year with 16.0 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game. A. Zeka had 12.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, and 2.3 aspg. B. Zeka had 13.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.0 aspg.

Wellington was the lone school to have a girl first-teamer in the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. IV. Elizabeth Tjaden of Clearwater and Mckenzie Fairchild of Andale were named to the second team 4A list. The full list can be found here for the girls and here for the boys.
