All-Star Scholars Fund to distribute $100 reward cards to Sumner County students

Submitted to Sumner Newscow – The Kansas All-Star Scholars Fund will once again be providing financial assistance to students in Sumner County and Mulvane.

Volunteers from the fund will start distributing $100 VISA prepaid cards to the parents of K-12 Students enrolled in a Sumner County or Mulvane school district.

The money is intended to help families with the costs associated with sending their kids back to school. This is the second year for the program and a great opportunity to hear from families on how the money impacted them during the previous school year.

All-Star Scholars Fund receives 100 percent of its funding, $1.5 million each year, from Kansas Star Casino. A blue-ribbon panel of local business leaders and recognized leaders from the state’s higher education community serve on the board that directs and oversees the Kansas All-Stars Scholars Fund, Inc.

The inaugural board is comprised of former Kansas Board of Regents Chair Jill Docking, Frank Carson of Mulvane, KS, J.C. Long of Wellington, KS, Joe Johnson of Mulvane, KS, and Roger Stallbaumer of Wellington, KS.
