Anna Belle Kern, 89: May 16,1927 – Nov. 7, 2016
Anna Belle Kern died Monday November 7, 2016, she was 89 years old.
Anna Belle was born in Arkansas City to William and Anna (Moncravie) Hardy on May 16, 1927. Anna Belle grew up in many parts of the country including Arkansas City, KS, Chicago, IL and Winslow, AZ as her step father worked for the Sante Fe Railroad.
When she grew up she worked as a waitress and an accountant’s assistant before getting married and devoting her life as a farmer’s wife and mother. She spent many hours cooking and hauling food to the fields to make sure all of the farm workers were well fed and taken care of.Â
She always let everyone know what was on her mind and often brought a smile to the people around her. She loved her children and all of her nieces and nephews and always served big holiday meals so the family could spend time together. After her two children were grown, Anna Belle enjoyed spending time with her friends playing bingo and gambling at the local casinos.
As she got older Anna Belle loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anna Belle lovingly spent the last nine years in Gilmer, TX with her son and his family.
Anna Belle was preceded in death by her parents, William Hardy and Anna (Moncravie) Hardy Mast; stepfather, Lamar Benjamin Mast; husband, Paul Kern, Sr.; brothers, William Hardy, Mick Mast and sister, Florence Nimitz.
She is survived by her son Paul Kern, Jr. and his wife Krysti of Gilmer, Texas; daughter, Anita Kern of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Cody Kern of Austin, Texas, Tanner Kern and his wife Kai of Yukon, Oklahoma, Brooke Kern and her fiancé Deontia Starling of Gilmer Texas, Cole Kern and fiancé Bradyn Jenkins of Gilmer, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kenslee Starling and Vivian Jenkins.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Corzine Cemetery, Corbin Kansas. Fr. Hung Pham will officiate.
Memorials may be given in memory of Anna Belle to the Salvation Army or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and left in care of the mortuary.
