Sumner Newscow report – The Wellington Crusader track team traveled to Wichita Collegiate Friday evening for the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. IV meet and came home with several placings. But it was Anna Cullens who made the most racket for the silver and red.
The Wellington sophomore broke an AV-CTL DIV league record in the 100 meter high hurdles. During the prelims of that race, she finished with a 14.82 time which is not only her personal best but the league’s best.
Then she would run the 300-meter low hurdles in 45.03 which is not only a league record but the fastest time in the state for all classes.
As a team, the Wellington girls finished third out of six teams with 67.33 points. The Wellington boys placed sixth with 30.5 points. Wellington head track coach Zane Aguilar said the Crusader boys have been gutted with injuries. Dustyn Schettler, Wellington’s top sprinter, is out for the season with a bad hamstring. Gavin York, the top hurdler, is also nursing a hamstring injury and is questionable for regional competition on Thursday in Andale.
