Anna Marie Whittley, 71, Wellington: May 8, 1950 – June 26, 2021

Anna Whittley

Anna Marie Whittley died on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at her home in Wellington at the age of 71. She was born the daughter of Edgar Lee and Kathleen (Bacon) Hansard on May 8, 1950, in the Hatcher Hospital in Wellington.

On June 15, 1969, she and James Whittley were united in marriage in Belle Plaine. Together they recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. Anna was employed for over 20 years at Walmart where she worked in numerous departments. She was a member of the Wellington Baptist Temple for many years and served in various ministries with her favorite being the nursery.

Being a mother and grandmother came naturally to her. In fact, she wasn’t just “mom” or “grandma” to her own kids but to their friends as well. Any day spent with her family and grandbabies was a good one. She also loved spending time with the chickens and goats at the family farm. Anna was a humorous person that was constantly making people laugh. She loved teasing, joking, being ornery and easily made friends anywhere she went.

Survivors include her husband, James Whittley of Wellington; sister, Valerie Simpson and husband Ray of Belle Plaine; brother, Richard Hansard and wife Loretta of Utah; son, Lee Whittley and wife Tammy of Fort Supply, Oklahoma; son, Cavin Whittley and wife Victoria of Wellington, her grandbabies: Aja Strasser, Kaylee Whittley, Braydon Jackson, Kylee Whittley, Jacob Whittley, Isaac Whittley, Curtis Jackson and Evegelene Whittley along with many foster grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Robert Hansard and Jerry West.

Memorial services for Anna will be held at 10:00 a.m, Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Wellington Baptist Temple, 1022 North Plum Street, Wellington.
