Sumner Newscow report — The Wellington Humane Society Pet of the Week is Bandit!

Bandit is a small terrier mix weighing 25 pounds. He came in with his two brothers from a broken home that needed to give them up. He is currently 8 years old. Sadly, 6 years ago, he was hit by a car and sustained a hip injury. His owner could not afford the expensive surgery to fix his hip. So he might have a hitch in his get-along, but he gets around well. Despite all this, he’s a happy little guy! His first 8 years might have been ruff, but we know this 2nd hand dog will have love for the rest of his life!

Stop in this week to meet this special pet! The WHS shelter is open Wednesday through Friday, 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you are interested in adoption, please complete the online application before coming in to speed up the adoption process. WHS officials will go in order of application received, so the sooner you get in your application, the better!

During the month of August, we are celebrating the Clear The Shelters event by NBCUniversal. There are special adoption fees all month! What better way to celebrate than helping Lucy find her furever home!? Plus, the Pet of the Week has an additional discount of $50 off dogs and $10 off cats during their week!

Adoption Fees during August:

Puppies (under 1 year) $100

Dogs (over 1 year) $75

Kittens (under 1 year) $30

Cats (over 1 year) $20
