Belle Plaine Community Foundation awards 3 local organizations Spring Youth Grants
Sumner Newscow report — The Belle Plaine Community Foundation, an affiliate of Legacy Regional Community Foundation – awarded three local organizations Spring Youth Grants in 2021. Bishop Youth Grants were awarded to After Prom ($1,000), Buccaneers 4-H ($500 for camp scholarships), and Belle Plaine Swim Team ($125 for league fees/$5,125 for timing system).
Lanore Bishop gave a generous endowed gift to Belle Plaine Community Foundation. Her gift provides ongoing grant opportunities for a large number of youth projects in the Belle Plaine and Mulvane communities. Twice a year BPCF accepts grant applications from area nonprofit organizations for projects benefitting youth in the Belle Plaine and Mulvane areas. Fall Youth Grants will be announced in September 2021.
The Belle Plaine Community Foundation was founded in 1996 to be a legal vehicle for local residents to make charitable gifts back to their community. With established policies and procedures for prudent investment and stewardship of money under their direction, the Belle Plaine Community Foundation board of directors has an accomplished record of good fund management. The Foundation awards between $35,000 to $40,000 each year to local scholarships, projects and programs. Area residents currently serving as the BPCF Board: Linda Stinnett (Chair), Julie Gooch, Loree Hisken, and Robin Macy.
