Belle Plaine cruises to 45-6 win over Neodesha

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Breakup the Dragons. Belle Plaine is 5-0.

Belle Plaine disposed of Neodesha 45-6 Friday night, the same team it had to take into double-overtime at home a year ago.

For a while, it looked as if was going to be a slugfest. The Dragons didn’t score until 2:43 of the first quarter when Luke Baker hit Eli Wiseman on a 42-yard slant pass to give Belle Plaine a 6-0 lead.

Noland Reynolds would make two huge sacks to stop Neodesha on the next drive. Baker hit Austin Hilton for 18 yards and it was 13-0.

Skyler Stinnett then tackled a Neodesha player on a sweep for a 9-yard loss that thwarted another Blue Streaks drive. Wiseman followed that up with a 56-yard scamper and the Dragons led 20-0.

Baker would score on the next possession on a 3-yard touchdown and at the half, Belle Plaine was leading 26-0.

Belle Plaine would add three more touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 45-0 lead which included a Tim Bible 45-yard pick 6. Neodesha didn’t score until 10:45 left in the game.

Belle Plaine comes home for the first time in four weeks, when it hosts Fredonia. It could be a good one. Fredonia defeated Cherryvale 29-22 this week.
