Betty (Phillips) Hickman-Kemp, 89, Wellington: Jan. 17, 1927 – Dec. 14, 2016

Betty (Phillips) Hickman-Kemp, formerly of Goodland, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Wellington Health and Rehab in Wellington at the age of 89.

Betty was born the daughter of Paul Lincoln and Blanche (Deane) Phillips on Monday, January 17, 1927 in Bird City.

In 1945, Betty and Charles E. Hickman were united in marriage in Atwood.  Together they celebrated 13 years of marriage before his passing in 1958. She later married Floyd M. Kemp, Jr. in August of 1966. 

Betty was a caregiver at heart as she spent her lifetime taking care of others. Whether it was in-home care of the elderly or providing meals from a kitchen, Betty was helpful to all that she knew.

Survivors include her son, Charles Hickman and his wife Deborah of Belle Plaine; son, Kenneth Hickman and his wife Patricia of Canon City, Colorado; grandchildren: Devine Church, Charles Hickman, III, Jonathan Hickman, Jennifer Hughes and Terry Purcell; 10 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; brother, Don Phillips and sisters, Agnes Henderson and Clarice Machal-Titus.  

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Hickman; grandson, John Purcell; 4 brothers: Ray, Zee, Les and Joe and 6 sisters: Edna, Florence, Mildred, Mina, Bertha and Patty.

Her family will conduct a private interment at a later date in Goodland.
