Lindsey Nicole Blansett

by Shane Farley, Newscow.net — Nicole Blansett entered a not guilty plea Thursday afternoon in the December 2014 death of 10-year-old Caleb Blansett.

Blansett has been charged with first degree murder of her son, who was a student at Lincoln Elementary. A trial date has been tentatively set for July 14, however trial dates in murder cases often have to be rescheduled.

Its not uncommon for a not guilty plea to be entered at arraignment. Such a plea mostly signifies a defendant intends to continue toward trial.

The case could still be resolved in multiple ways including a jury trial or plea agreement.

The 33-year-old Blansett is accused of using a rock and knife to fatally wound her son on Dec. 14 while he slept at their Wellington home.
