Bonnie Jean Tompkins, 84, Wellington: Jan. 28, 1930 – May 30, 2014
Bonnie Jean Tompkins died Friday, May 30, 2014 at her home in rural Wellington at the age of 84.
Bonnie was born the daughter of Lawrence and Violet (Fuller) Cruse on Tuesday, January 28, 1930 in Wellington. Her parents preceded her in death.
On July 25, 1947, Bonnie and Robert “RJ” Tompkins were united in marriage in Wellington. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Bonnie was a librarian and retired from the South Haven Public Library after many years of service. Outside of work, she was instrumental in starting the Blessing House and volunteered there for many years.Â
Survivors include her husband, Robert “RJ” Tompkins of the home; son, Hoss Tompkins and his wife Dona of Manzanola, Colorado; son, Tom Tompkins and his wife Robin of Wellington; son, Larry Tompkins and his wife Patricia of South Haven along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014 in the Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington.
Memorials have been established in her loving memory to the Blessing House of Wellington or Rivercross Hospice in Winfield. Contributions may be mailed or left with the funeral home.
