Submitted to Sumner Newscow — With 38 years of experience in the heating and air conditioning trade, Brownlee Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., at 903 N. “H” Street in Wellington, has some advice on how you can cut on your heating bill as the upcoming winter season arrives.

For the past 21 years, Roger Brownlee has been the owner/operator of Brownlee Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.   The local, family owned business is here to help with all heating and cooling needs.  Brownlee carries Bryant and American Standard brands.  Both brands are top of the line and highly efficient products that will save you money on heating and cooling.

As you prepare for the change in seasons here are some tips for keeping your home comfortable.

•Replace outdated equipment with high-efficiency products. High–efficiency systems are engineered and installed to deliver more comfort, better moisture control, and improved indoor air quality.  This equipment uses less energy, operates at reduced noise levels, and often comes with extended warranty coverage.

•Maintain heating and cooling equipment — annual inspection and cleaning of filters and coils are required to keep your equipment running smoothly.

•Have a well-ventilated attic.  Attic ventilation in the summer months is necessary to remove heat accumulation.

•Insulate, Insulate, Insulate!  Insulation is one of the most important factors in retaining heat and cool air in your home —  many heating and cooling dollars escape thru the ceiling/roof.    A well-insulated home is going to save money in the summer and winter months.

•Did you know a light color roof (shingles) do not absorb the heat like dark shingles do?  Keep in mind a lighter colored shingle/roof will help keep your costs down.  Metal roofs are becoming very popular and proving to be exceptional for cost savings.

-Maintain your siding and windows — check for leaks around windows and entryways.  Caulk as needed to fix those leaks!

Roger and his staff offer new construction ducting and equipment installations, routine maintenance and repairs, and change out of dated equipment.

There are so many things, Brownlee Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. can do. If you have a Kirby vacuum, Brownlee’s carry Kirby Vacuum Cleaner supplies (bags, belts, etc.)  and also does repairs locally.  No longer will you need to leave town for Kirby vacuum supplies or repairs.

Office hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday by appointment.  You can reach Brownlee Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. at  620-399-8161.
