Bryon Lee Miller, 71, Wellington: June 6, 1951 – Dec. 24, 2022
Bryon Lee Miller, 71, died on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at his home in Wellington, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 6, 1951, in Fort Polk, Louisiana to William and Donna (Katzenmeier) Miller. The family soon relocated to Kansas, where a daughter, Carmen, was born two years later. Bryon was a 1969 graduate of Wellington High School and remained a resident of Wellington for many years. He owned and operated the Miller Furniture & Floor Company for over 30 years and retired in 1999.
As everyone knows, Bryon’s pride and joy was his son, Myles. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his son and was proud of his accomplishments in sporting clay tournaments, golfing, fishing, and hunting. Bryon especially loved watching his son develop into a businessman and property manager, as he had done for many years.
In 2009, Bryon married a “Crusader Classmate,” Susan Hamilton-Aleshire. The couple enjoyed the RV lifestyle before eventually settling down in Florida, where they wintered for several years.
All who knew Bryon will agree he liked to work hard and play hard. He accomplished so much, from flying his own airplane to restoring a 1960 T-Bird plus a 1957 Red Fish boat. Bryon enjoyed the competition and won downhill skiing events in the 1970s and recreationally enjoyed water skiing, motorcycling, and piloting his own Mooney Aircraft. He traveled around the world and could tell great stories about his flights into Africa, Europe and the Caribbean.
Bryon was preceded in death by his father, William Miller.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Miller of the home; his son, Myles Miller and his family of Raynee Miller, Megan Allender & Parker; his mother, Donna Miller and his sister, Carmen Davis and her husband Dave and their family of Brandy Sutton, Breanna, Acia and Boston Malick.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington. Following the graveside, a celebration of Bryon’s life will be held in the clubhouse of the Wellington Golf Club at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be given to the Wellington Golf Association Junior Golf Program, 1500 West Harvey Avenue, Wellington 67152. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
