Caldwell and A&A advance in playoffs; South Haven and Oxford finish season with wins

Caldwell 57 Central Plains 8
Caldwell had an easy time knocking out Central Plains in the first round of the Class 8-man Div. I playoffs.
Bluejay quarterback Keiondre Smith romped with 246 yards and five touchdowns to give Caldwell an easy win. It was 28-0 at the end of the first quarter and it 43-0 at the half. Central Plains had a lengthy drive in the second half but garnered no points. The Bluejays secured the win in the fourth quarter with two touchdowns.
Things get much tougher for the Bluejays next week. Caldwell travels to Victoria which defeated Peabody-Burns 52-6 last night. That will be a Friday night game.

Argonia-Attica 46 Kinsley 0
A&A had no trouble disposal Kinsley in the first round of the Class 1A eight-man div. I playoffs. The game was called at halftime.
The Titans will now travel to La Crosse in the next round. La Crosse, 7-2, defeated Moundridge 61-6. A&A beat Moundridge 62-34 earlier this season.
Against Kinsley, A&A led 16-0 at the end of the first quarter and would win convincingly 46-0.
A&A had just 139 yards in offense Thursday night in Argonia. Two of the six touchdowns scored were interception returns for a touchdown. Xander Newberry was 3-of-3 for 49 yards that included a 1-yard touchdown to Conner Harnden.
Newberry, Adam Blanchat and Dalton Morrison combined for three rushing touchdowns.
Blanchat led the team in total tackles with six solo and six assists. For all the statistics click here.
Non-playoff games:
Oxford 44 Oswego 21
The Wildcats finished the year 2-7 with a win over Oswego in a non-playoff game. Oxford avenged the loss to Oswego two years ago.
South Haven 79 Chase 34
South Haven finished the year with a win. The Cardinal program is of now, no more, merging with Caldwell next season.
Lyons 30 Belle Plaine 26
Belle Plaine finishes the year at 1-8.
