Caldwell, Argonia girls ranked in top 10 of KBCA preseason polls; AV-CTL Div. IV will be loaded for Wellington
by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The first Kansas Basketball Coaches Association rankings came out today and two girls teams have made the top 10 in their classifications.
The Caldwell girls were ranked No. 3 in the Class 1A Division 1 KBCA poll. Argonia girls were ranked No. 5 in the Class 1A Division 2 poll.
Not coincidentally those schools were also in the Class 1A State Volleyball tournament in November.
The high school basketball season will start in earnest on Friday. Wellington basketball teams will start their season next week with the Kingman preseason tournament.
Sumner Newscow will be having previews of the Sumner County teams throughout the week including the wrestling program.
In other KBCA poll news:Â
•On the boys side, Andale is ranked No. 2 in the new Class 4A Div. 2 poll. Clearwater is slated at No. 7. Wichita Collegiate, a member of the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Div. IV league, is the No. 1 ranked in Class 3A.
•On the girls side, Andale is ranked No. 6 in Class 4A – Div. 2, and Clearwater is slated at No. 10.
•West Elk boys are the only SCBL team ranked at No. 6 in Class 2A.
