Caldwell’s season comes to an end with blowout loss
Sumner Newscow report — Caldwell’s once inspiring season came to an unhappy conclusion Thursday, as it lost to Hutchinson Central Christian 58-12.
The two teams were vying for the second spot in eight-man division II district 2 game. Caldwell had five players sitting out for disciplinary reasons.
Central Christian took a 16-0 lead, but Caldwell cut the lead with a 1-yard touchdown run by Jalen Risley early in the second quarter. Central Christian then took off and lead 38-12 at the half.Â
Central Christian scored 20 points in the third to clinch victory. Caldwell finishes the year at 7-2. This was a tough district with three quality teams. Even at full strength the Bluejays would have had a tough contest.
