Car chase that started in Sumner County ends in fatality of Udall man
By Shane Farley, Newscow.net — One person was killed and three others were injured Saturday when a police pursuit – that began in Sumner County – ended with a car crash in Sedgwick County.
22-year-old Jason A. Minson, of Udall, was identified as the deceased. He was the driver of a 2002 Oldsmobile passenger car that struck a tree on College Ave. in Mulvane.
Minson was traveling at a high rate of speed and attempting to elude officers with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Dept. when the crash happened, just before 3 a.m., according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The Oldsmobile went over a curb, struck a fence and then hit the tree, according to an online report from KHP. Minson was not wearing a seat belt.
His body was taken to the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center.
Jonathan A. Douglas, 18, of Udall, was a passenger in the vehicle. He was transported to Wesley Medical Center, where he was treated and later released.
21-year-old Jacob A. Minson, Udall, and 19-year-old Patrick A. Moore, of Ashton, Kan., were taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis in Wichita. Information on their conditions was not immediately available.
None of the three passengers was wearing a seatbelt, according to the highway patrol.
